Yes, it is cheap. Probably one of the cheapest. But the customer service is really bad! The waiting lines are very long, the service is extremely slow. Usually, 1 or max two people at a counter, when they can easily have 4.
What a scam. We paid a lot more for an automatic and reserved it for 1:30pm. At 4pm we went to pick it up they said, usually we charge 30 euros more a day for this car but we will give it you for 10 euros day. Umm what? Where is the car that I paid for? Oh its in another terminal. So youre telling me that I have to pay more because you dont have my car? No I do have your car but you will need to wait 30 minutes to an hour or so for us to get it. If you have the time... We ended up paying more for a manual and then paying 10 euros on top per day because of this scam of a company. We are also Emerald Club Members.

I rent from National very frequently, am an Emerald member and generally have been treated well, but this office has terrible customer service. As mentioned in other reviews the agents are very slow in dealing with each customer at the counter. My main reason for this review is that for rental periods beyond 28 days, the customer is required to notify this particular location to extend the rental for the next 28 days or whatever period of time is required. This can be done in person or on the phone but only through this location. Over a period of 4 days and various times of day I have called in excess of 15 times. Two emails were sent (one from me and one from their central office). They do not respond to emails and they have yet to answer the phone. As of this review, I do not know if the German authorities might be looking for me with a "stolen" rental car or if National at Frankfurt has extended my rental. I'm returning the car and switching to Avis as soon as I can. Update: I returned the car. There was no issue with the post-rental inspection. Because they did not extend my rental properly, they did start charging me a much higher daily rate each day I was overdue. I returned to the counter to get a receipt and explained my concerns. A person said that they were working on correcting the administrative office so the phones would be answered. She also offered a refund of 20% for my rental fees. As a result, I am increasing my review from 1 star to 2 stars.
